Cómo instalar Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (explicación y vídeo)
Aprovechando la salida de Ubuntu 14.04 LTS os vamos a mostrar cómo instalar Ubuntu en un ordenador, lo hemos hecho basándonos en la versión 14.04 pero es válida para cualquier versión de Ubuntu, ya que la forma de instalación de Ubuntu ha cambiado poco con el paso del tiempo.
También os dejamos unos consejos adicionales para completar la información del vídeo:
¿Qué se necesita para instalar Ubuntu?
-CD/DVD/USB de instalación
Tendremos que descargar una imagen de Ubuntu y grabarla en un CD o DVD, que fácilmente podremos hacer con el grabador de discos Brasero, o cualquier otro grabador como K3b.
También tenemos la opción de grabar la imagen a un pendrive que podemos hacer de diferentes maneras, aquí os dejamos una sencilla: Grabar Ubuntu en un Pendrive
¿Qué versión de Ubuntu descargo, 64 o 32 bits? Actualmente la mayoría de procesadores tienen compatibilidad con 64 bits, aunque si vuestro equipo es algo antiguo a lo mejor necesite una versiónd e 32 bits. Para asegurarnos de esto lo mejor es comprobar la compatibilidad del equipo en las especificaciones del hardware que lleve.
-Máquina
Necesitaremos un ordenador físico o una máquina virtual para poder instalar Ubuntu. Si es nuestro ordenador habitual con nuestros datos personales, deberemos tener cuidado, os recomendamos que si no tenéis experiencia guardéis todos vuestros datos importantes en otros equipos o unidades externas antes de modificar cualquier cosa.
¡No te arriesgues! ¡Prueba antes! Lo bueno de Ubuntu, es que podemos probarlo antes de instalarlo, y ver si nos gusta y nos funciona bien en nuestro equipo. En el vídeo os mostramos la manera con la que acceder a la versión live de Ubuntu con la que podéis trastear a vuestro gusto, sin necesidad de tener que instalar Ubuntu.
NOTA: Para que el equipo inicie desde el CD/DVD/USB tendremos que configurar nuestra BIOS o UEFI para que lo haga, que se hace de diferentes maneras dependiendo el modelo y versión que sea.
¿Cómo instalar Ubuntu?
El proceso es muy sencillo e intuitivo, en el vídeo os lo enseñamos y vamos comentando. Lo que si queremos es explicar con un poco más de detalle el Tipo de instalación, que en el vídeo mostramos el avanzado, pero habría que explicar mejor el resto de casos para los usuarios menos experimentados:
-Para casos en los que no queramos modificar nuestro sistema actual pero no tengamos mucha experiencia la mejor opción es la de Instalar Ubuntu junto a los sistemas operativos que tengamos, de este modo podremos tener Ubuntu junto a otros SOs de una manera sencilla.
-Para casos en los que queramos destruir el sistema operativo e instalar Ubuntu en su lugar, la opción más sencilla es usar la opción de Borrar disco e instalar Ubuntu, esto no hace falta explicar que nos borrará todos los datos que tengamos en el equipo, así que mejor salvarlo si queremos elegir esta opción. Este modo nos da alguna opción adicional como encriptar la instalación, para mayor seguridad y usar LVM (para particiones dinámicas).
-Los usuarios con más conocimientos podrán elegir Más opciones para elegir el disco y la partición concreta donde instalar Ubuntu. Tenéis más información en el completo artículo de Jorge de la Cruz en el que habla del particionamiento recomendado en Ubuntu.
No hay mucho más que añadir, la manera de instalar de Ubuntu es sencilla, más que otros sistemas y no muy diferente. Sobre el tema de las máquinas virtuales y el particionado de discos en Ubuntu hablaremos dentro de poco en próximos artículos (estad atentos a la web y las redes sociales).

Tengo una duda y tambien es un problema, instale ubuntu 14.04 en otra particion, pensando tener windows 8.1 con ubuntu, instale bacan todo, inicie ubuntu, abri, y si sale el grub. Pero cuando inicie windows 8.1, y reinicie, inicia windows 8.1, sin poder elegir entre uno de los dos SO. He visto muhos videos de como instalar, pero hago todo igual, sin ningun error. Mi windows 8.1 esta instalado en sv1 no se como se dice, no se si el problema es que no instale el grup en esa particion donde esta instalado windows8.1. No se si me podrias ayudar, te lo agradeceria mucho

Respecto al tema que comentas no te puedo responder con certeza, ya que no he llegado a probar Ubuntu en dual boot junto a windows 8. No obstante, si que se que por el tema de UEFI puede dar algunos problemas.
Lo que se me ocurre como posible solución, sería volver a instalar windows 8 sin EUFI y luego instalar Ubuntu 14.04. De este modo debería dejarte iniciar ambos sin problema mediante el grub, no obstante, no te lo puedo asegurar con seguridad, lo mejor es que eches busques por internet información para tu caso concreto.

Hace unos días que actualicé a la versión 14.04 LTS y cuando arranco no hace nada tras poner la contraseña de usuario, se queda con la imagen de fondo. Sin embargo puedes darle a sesión de invitado y sin problema ninguno puedes trabajar ahí perdiendo todo lo que hagas una vez la cierres.
Por más que he buscado no he encontrado nadie que le haya pasado lo mismo y no se qué hacer.

Intenta crear un usuario nuevo. Otra solución sería mirar a través de un USB live los archivos ocultos de la carpeta personal y borrar el que ponga .gksu.lock .esd_auth .sudo_as_admin_successful o similar.
También puede ser problema de que hayas cambiado la manera de acceso, es decir de Ubuntu normal a Ubuntu 2D o así.

Intente instalar Ubuntu junto con w7, pero nunca quiso arrancar, en el primer intento la pantalla se quedaba en negro y en la segunda se daño el grub, intente arrancarlo con un Live CD grub me detectaba los 2 OS pero Ubuntu no arranco jamas. Luego decidí probar Ubuntu antes de instalarlo y la pantalla y el cursor quedaban congelados. Ni pregunta es: si al intentar probar Ubuntu antes de instalarlo este no responde quiere decir q mi PC no es compatible o la descarga del OS fue corrupta o q estoy haciendo mal?

He intentado actualizar mi ubuntu a la versión 14.04 y después de instalar todo, al reiniciar, no arranca. Da el error File system check or mount failed y muestra el promt de root esperando que le meta un comando sin avanzar de ninguna forma. cualquier comando que le meta (o la password de root) me devuelve al promt de root y sigue igual. Me dice que con control-D se termina la shell de maintenance y que seguirá arrancando, pero no aranca. A ver si alguien sabe cómo salir de aquí.

Hola, un saludo, espero me puedas orientar. habia instalado ubuntu en mi laptop usando wubi pero en esa ocasion solo utilizo no se si por defecto un maximo de 30 gigas y pues al tiempo me quedo chico el espacio y decidi eliminarlo e instalar sin wubi para poder asignarle a mi gusto espacio del disco duro. el caso es que al llegar al momento de la instalacion de ubuntu 14.04 LTS de 32bits no se porque no me da la opcion de instalar junto a windows, asi que marco mas opciones y alli puedo ver que menciona que en una parte del disco esta windows pero ya no tengo idea de que hacer porque no entiendo que significan las opciones que tengo. ademas he visto que es recomendable hacer una particion para home y otra para los documentos pero no se como hacerlo y no quiero correr el riesgo de adivinar y hacerlo mal. por favor ayudame 🙁

tengo un problema, para clase me obligan a programar en c en linux, ubuntu, mi ordenador es windows 8.1, asiq decidi hacer una particion para meter el linux, sin embargo, soy incapaz. En un principio pensaba arrancarlo desde un USB para no tener que instalarlo, pero no fui capaz. el problema reside en que cuando arranco el ordenador desde el usb o desde un cd/dvd, en vez de aparecerme el logotipo de ubuntu, me aparece una pantalla en negro con cuatro opciones, entre ellas la de probarlo o la de instalarlo, indiferentemente de la opcion que escoja la pantalla se queda en negro de forma indefinida. no se que hacer. alguna ayuda?

Para muy principiantes como yo: grabar el DVD con Brasero o K3b o InfraRecorder es imprescindible. Si grabas con Nero (usando crear DVD de datos) el disco que obtienes no es ejecutable.
